'For anybody with a big mortgage or a 'black dog'. If you've got both, you should definitely read this!'
My house is a medallion, worn across my chest.
Status upped to stallion, I’m envied by the rest.
All arts and crafts, with great kerbside,
The lawn is flat, the street is wide.
Headers, stretchers, fancy courses,
Framed front door and market forces,
Lead folk to say, "Nice pad! What price?
"I bet it cost you, quite a slice."
I’ve stretched myself, it’s fair to say.
Sleepless, I worry the nights away
And think of sons, wife and daughter;
A black dog runs throughout the mortar.
My house is a medallion, hanging round my neck.
It renders me as carrion, the crows amass to peck,
My eyes, my heart, my very soul.
There is no exit from this hole.
Endless in black, the bottomless pit,
I don’t think I can settle this chit.
Hound! Haunt the fish or spook the cats.
How I wish you’d chase the rats
That gnaw at my grip on sanity.
Instead, you crawl and growl at me.
Devilish dog! Give me some rest.
Damn you dog; I’m repossessed!
